A band called Týr?

Ice landic Viking/Prog/folk metal band.

I've been really getting into them over the past month or two. I'm figureing these guys are prolly old news to a fair few of you but if not have a listen to their tracks on gayspace.com:

Yeah I'm stuck here!

Allthough the company I work for has stores across scandinavia so maybe I should learn the language and transfer haha.

But yeah definately check em out.

Unfortunately they are gonna have a short setlist, four or five songs. I want them to play Reign Smuir, however I doubt they will. I would have been able to film their performance and take pictures but my camera is in the repair shop. Confused

I'll post an overall review of the show. With the new album coming out, hopefully they'll do a headlining tour.

The show took place at BB Kings Blues Club in New York, this was the last tour date on the US tour. It was supposed to rain that night but thankfully it didn't and it was a perfect night. I arrived there about 15 minutes before the show started, it was a bitch heading up to the West Side but I made it. The lights dimmed and Tyr were the first ones to take the stage.

I heard about this band last year, I saw a video of their performance supporting Amon Amarth on tour, I liked their music and decided to check them out. Started off playing a song from their new album Land. Despite their short set list, their performance was amazing. They had a lot of energy and enthusiasm especially Heri & Gunnar. The crowd cheerfully sang along to "Wings of Time" and "Hail to the Hammer"

It was pretty funny when Heri made the crowd repeat after what he was saying in Faroese. They managed to say the first two words correctly, the next phrase was a bit long & hard to repeat and it was disastrously turned into gibberish. Heri found it very humorous and said "You should hear yourselves!!" Laughing

Hopefully they will come back to do a headlining US tour, four songs isn't enough Razz

Actually just to be really anal, they're from the Faroes not Iceland, it's a seperate country though possibly still part of the Danish kingdom, I can't just remember. And the language is nothing like regular scandinavian (ie norwegian, swedish, danish) or even Icelandic, which is basicaly Old Norse and near impossible to learn, but even more remote.
I lived in Norway for a year, and worked in Iceland for a month on a project, both are awesome places and Tyr played a couple of times but Ialways missed them. There great though, and the footage I've seen is pretty awesome!
