Maddox, welcome.
Good to see another Brisbane(ite?)(er?)(it0rz?) fellow. This is most certainly a place for recommendations, my first of which will be Judas Priest.
Where around Brissie are you located? If you're in the area we should meet up for beers and metal. |

hey madddx. my bro doesnt post here. just me. also good to see you have joined the cardigan confederacy!
you have some decent tastes there dude - plenty of room to develop. as far as rec's go - definitely listen to anything Decadent recommends - he's revitalised my tastes in music over the last 12 months or so.
Also, some of the stuff a guy called Lukelord recommends would likely be up your alley as well.
ill second judas priest (sad wings of destiny is a great place to start) and add exhorder - slaughter in the vatican as being the place pantera got their sound from. its just more raw and aggressive. |

Welcome!
Kreator were in necroticfreak's town playing live in mid December 06 (not for the first time). I'd be disappointed if you said you weren’t there. They are one of the few that play in those areas of Europe and since they can make the effort so should the metal people from the place (its the only way to support the Bosnian scene - go to as many gigs and in large numbers as possible). |
I must admit I didn't even know about that...all I know is that we had Vader in our town on December 05 in SA-Club...I even have a poster of that event... |

I live on the southside of Brissy, yeah I always sing better when I'm shitfaced haha. I'll download some music from Judas Priest and I'll tell you what I rekon.

Yeah I'll get some of them.
What do you people think about Tool? I've never heard them before but a guy I know loves em (and he loves my type of music) |

not a fan of tool personally. very much a love hate band i suppose. if you seem to share the same taste in music, id say its worth checking them out because chances are you will love them.
try to get the rest of the music recommendation chat in the "metal chat" forum though dude - you'll get more / better responses. |

Tool are indeed a love/hate scenario. While they're a genuinely ingenious and at times brilliant band, I loathe their fans with the kind of loathing I usually reserve for Opeth fans or the kind of people who say "RIP Dimebad keep shreddin' in heaven man". Tool are probably not what you're looking for. |

Welcome aboard Maddox. Check out the reviews sections for some new bands, there is a lot of cool reviews there. I would recommend Iron Maiden, Kreator, Death, Kamelot and Satyricon as some good starting points if you want to branch out and hear some of the better bands in the various metal genres. |

I yelled that at the top of my lungs apparently. I was pissed off my face though and they put on "in this river". Sorry to disappoint. haha and I don't even play guitar. |

Guess i should introduce meself. My name is Shawn i am 22 years old and i live in Omaha, Nebrasaka USA.. smack dab in the middle with a bunch of redneck's.
Some bands i do enjoy are: Bathory, Carpathian Forest, Cannible Corpse, Morbid Angel, Opeth, Falkenbach, Windir, Dissection, Moonsorrow, Mithotyn..... Many many others i could drop names all day . Right now im in a Black metal/folk metal phase. it alternates between Death/Thrash/Grind/Doom alot. i pretty much like it all (la gasp.. even some country!)
anyway. hi |
