Hockey, smockey. Boring game to watch on TV, but a blast live. Hence why its TV numbers are so low. Since its rating are not as high as the other sports, it don't make as much money. The owners want to control the amount being paid. They should be entitled to, its their teams. If the players don't like it, get another job as far as I'm concerned.
As for player salaries, let get as much as they can for as long as they can. Got to love a freemarket based economy. Personally, I think in all the sports, the minimum payed is to low for the damage these players do to their bodies for our entertainment. Except baseball, where the worst injury they can get is a splinter from a bat. Seriously though, all the pro atheletes train year around, put the health on the line for a sport they love to play and a we love to watch. If the guy ruins his back or destroys a knee, he should be well paid, for the lifetime of suffering coming his way. |

Yeah but i mean over 5 million per year that's a bit too much for a salary for 1 year. Yeah sure they put there bodies on the line to entertain us wich i respect that but they don't train during the of season very much but maybe the pre-season yeah. They play gold during the off season |

i've been living in canada much of my life and the strike killed me, ohh gawd the rules eh?....its ridiculas.but i always have football(soccer).
hockey is not what it used to be when Lafleur Gretzky lemiux bellfore
yager lindros were in thier prime and fighting was ok ...always makes a game more interesting with blood on the ice.now its all money.im flying to sydney and to see a concert is cheaper then to go watch the leaf's play...wtf?!?!
same with soccer, rooney's a nut but a good one , but as for the game its self theres too much corruption. remember the world cup game when the ref got deported back to russia cause he was card happy.for a reason im sure.
ok back to my beer. |

How salary cap forces the injured to play
| Quote: |
LEADING NRL coaches have claimed this season's unprecedented injury toll is forcing them to regularly field "needled-up" and inferior players because of salary cap pressure.
The NRL will provide some relief for elite players when it proposes - among other measures - an extra bye be added to the draw from next season at a crucial meeting of club chief executives in Sydney today.
But that is unlikely to pacify injury-crippled clubs struggling to squeeze players under the $4.1 million salary cap for their top 25 players and the $350,000 second-tier cap.
"I can honestly say we are sending multiple players out there who are needled up or haven't been able to train during the week," Knights coach Brian Smith told the Herald. "It's not fair on the individual.
"I understand what the cap is supposed to do. [But] it's got to a point where we can't play anyone else because we've exhausted our second-tier cap. That puts more pressure on us to play players who are not fully fit. It's an ugly situation."
There could be further pressure on coaches from club bosses if a proposal from Wests Tigers' Steve Noyce, Melbourne's Brian Waldron and St George Illawarra's Peter Doust is agreed.
They want salary cap auditor Ian Schubert to provide clubs with a mid-year review of their cap status, possibly forcing coaches to field lesser players. |

Yeah, i follow the premier league and bundesliga....Arsenal in the PL and a few teams in the BL...
About the Sydney coaching situation... Branko Culina just got sacked this week, the replacement is John Kosmina. Culina was the 4th coach sacked by Syd FC in 3 years of the a-league |

Well Mariners have just signed Aloisi as a long term injury replacement (meaning they can pay him as much as they want, thus why he is at the club)
And as a victory fan, i have to say that i wouldn't put it past Melb to make a run for it. There new recruits have taken a while to get going, but the last 2 weeks have looked very good for them. Archie is on fire of late too, but they have to keep the form up of course... |

I cant believe how badly Perth Glory is doing this season. No wait a minute, I can, just not this bad
They had the Barcelona v Rangers game and then the Roma v Sporting Lisbon match.
Fucking go the Gunners, 7-0, what a fucking romp. Gunners are playing so well this season, I have a very good feeling it will be their season this year. |

Im actually disappointed at Slavia and Dynamo Kiev this season. (Chech republic and Ukraine). These countries are usually good at football...
Rangers so far has been pretty impressive as was Scotland |
