MOURN release EP titled The Beaten Path for streaming
Anonymous writes "MOURN, HeavyStonerBluesGrooveRockSludgeMetal from The Netherlands.
With members from Exivious, (ex-)Cynic (US), Textures and March, MOURN mixes sludge, stoner, groove and metal. As a counteraction against the supertechnical metalbands of modern day, MOURN gets its inspirations from bands like Down, Pantera, Black Sabbath and Black Label Society. Music that is made to move and groove.
MOURN recorded their first EP "The Beaten Path" to start their road to world domination. It was released on September 1st 2014.
In late 2013, MOURN decided to bring nothing new. Since everything already had been done before, and everything else wouldn't be worth making, these brave young men decided to do something entirely different: to acknowledge their total lack of cutting edge. Trying not to copy other bands, this band makes a mixture of Metal, Rock and Blues like a lot of other bands before them. Bands you of course have heard of, going from Pantera and Down to Black Sabbath and Black Label Society.
Founding member Robin Zielhorst (ex-Cynic, Ex-Blue Man Group, Exivious), found like minded forces in Thomas Frankhuijzen (March), Kas Kluitman and Pieter Verpaalen (ex-Texures) to walk this beaten path of metal. The result is a grooving metal machine that does not stop until you're beating your head to the sound of the riffs. You could describe its genre as HeavyStonerBluesGrooveRockSludgeMetal. MOURN's heavily riff oriented music trades technical prowess and speed for groove and feel boldly going where many bands have gone before. "

Mat Maurer's all time Top Ten MORTAL SIN gigs.
Original text below written by Mat Maurer (ex-MORTAL SIN) during June 2012:
"I spent the last two weeks going through all the gigs that Mortal Sin ever did to compile a list of my favourite top ten gigs. The criteria that I set for this list was a) its importance b) Its awesomeness factor c) My personal perspective.
I know everyone will have their own favourite gig for their own reasons, so if you went to any of the gigs listed, then by all means, please comment your own experience of that gig!! I'll endeavour to put up one gig every other night or as much as I can, so that we can get to Number one as soon as possible! Remember - these are my choices, my opinions, they may not reflect the same opinions or perspectives as other members of the band, as we all travelled down the same road, but with a different journey or experience!!
Hope you enjoy my perspective!"
To preserve Mat Maurer's (ex MORTAL SIN) words on our website and to help keep memories alive you will now be able to read all of the top 10 text here on HAILMETAL.com in addition to the original source on Mortal Sin official facebook page (link). We have provided links to the original sources where we found them (if there are any sections missing, we apologize in advance).

After a great year of intensive touring in support of their critically acclaimed album, War Eternal, ARCH ENEMY is parting ways with guitarist Nick Cordle, who states: With War Eternal, I believe we wrote an album together which will stand the test of time, and I wish them well for the future.
USA fans will be able to catch a special reunion as Christopher Amott (the brother of ARCH ENEMY founder/bandleader Michael Amott) has joined the band for the remainder of their American headlining tour.
Michael Amott (guitars) comments: We all wish Nick the very best in his new endeavors and we are sure that you will hear much more from him. Were also super grateful to my brother Christopher for stepping in to finish the current American tour!
The prospect of working with Jeff Loomis moving forward is truly awesome! Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitar players in the metal world in my opinion, as well as being a long time friend. BLACK MAJESTY - New Album Art, Release Date Confirmed
Aussie melodic power metal band BLACK MAJESTY have announced July 20th as the European release date for their new album Stargazer through their label Limb Music with release dates in other parts of the world to be announced shortly. The cover art for Stargazer was created by Dirk Illing (SCORPIONS). Check out the new artwork below:
Stargazer was mixed by Roland Grapow (MASTERPLAN, ex-HELLOWEEN). Song titles set to appear on the new album include 'The Fallen', 'Edge Of The World', 'The Killing Hand', 'Lykan' and 'Journey To The Soul' among others.
Guitarist Ryan Huthnance of Australian thrash metal veterans MORTAL SIN has released the following statement:
"It's time the rumours were laid to rest. Yes, MORTAL SIN is finished. Due to changing personal circumstances, as well as priorities, Luke [Cook, drums] and Nathan [Shea, guitar] have both decided that their time with the band is at an end. This decision was not made lightly, and was not a result of the actions and words made by other parties who would lead you to believe it was. The truth is, without passion, conviction, and love for the music you play, being in a band means nothing.
"While Andy [Eftichiou, bass], Dave [Tinelt, vocals] and myself could easily continue and find new band members, without the core songwriting unit from the last two albums, it wouldn't be MORTAL SIN.
Australian extreme noise metal collective THE AMENTA will release its latest digital offering, "Chokehold", mid-May through France's Listenable Records. The effort features two brand new songs from the band, the title track "Chokehold" and a cover of the GODFLESH track "Christbait Rising". Both songs were recorded and produced with a modern take on GODFLESH's influential "Streetcleaner" album's sound and aesthetic. The EP also features two live tracks taken from the bands 2011 "V01D" Australian tour as well as a remix of the track "V01D".
In other news, THE AMENTA has released an official video clip for the track "V01D", consisting of footage taken from the band's 2011 Australian tour in support of the online release of the same name. "V01D" was filmed and edited by Shane "Swanee" Thomson. Check it out below.
